You never outgrow the need for immunizations

The McLean County Health Department can provide immunizations for the whole family in our Child and Adult Immunization Clinics. No matter your age, we all need immunizations to keep us healthy. Vaccination remains our best defense against some still common & sometimes deadly diseases.

Don’t let out of sight, mean out of mind...
The good news about vaccines is that they are among the most successful and cost-effective public health tools available for preventing disease and death. They not only help protect vaccinated individuals, but also help protect entire communities by preventing and reducing the spread of infectious diseases among those who cannot be vaccinated due to age or medical conditions – it’s a concept called herd immunity. When a high percentage of the population is vaccinated, it greatly limits a contagious disease from being able to spread because it can’t find enough unvaccinated people to infect.

The bad news about vaccines is that because of their success in preventing disease, some adults are not familiar with them or the serious diseases they prevent. It’s important to remember that even when vaccine-preventable diseases are rare in the United States, they can still be active in other parts of the world and brought into the U. S. by exposed individuals -- putting unvaccinated people in our country at risk and increasing the possibility of an outbreak. Currently, the United States has the safest, most effective vaccine supply in its history.

The United States’ long-standing vaccine safety system ensures that vaccines are as safe as possible. As new information and science become available, this system is, and will continue to be, updated and improved. If it’s been awhile since your last vaccination, come see us to discuss which vaccinations may be right for you and don't forget to schedule your annual seasonal flu/influenza shot.
