About the Center
The McLean County Juvenile Detention Center is a modern, 26-bed, short-term secure facility that houses juveniles who have been accused of serious crimes, or who have been sentenced to confinement for a short period of time.
Our Mission
Our mission is to create and maintain a safe, clean, and secure environment and deal with young people in a fair, firm, compassionate, and consistent manner. Residents are treated with respect and dignity while reinforcing positive behaviors. Our objectives are to diagnose needs and provide programs that address the physical, mental, and spiritual health of the young people in our care. We work to prepare them for a positive transition back to their homes, or to alternative placement settings.
Accreditation
The facility is accredited by the National Commission on Correctional Health Care. We are the only facility in the State of Illinois to maintain dual accreditation. We have received perfect inspections from the Department of Juvenile Justice.
