Domestic Violence Intensive Probation Supervision Program
The Domestic Violence Intensive Probation Supervision Program is an extension of McLean County Adult Court Services Department, and all guidelines and polices applicable to the Court Services office apply to this unit.
The primary purpose of the Domestic Violence Intensive Probation Supervision Unit is to provide services to an identifiable group of offenders who have battered a spouse, family member, or significant other. The major emphasis of the program is victim safety and deterrence of further violence. The unit offers the court a highly structured, service-oriented system sentencing alternative.
Functions & Responsibilities
The Domestic Violence Intensive Probation Supervision Unit currently consists of two officers and a clerk who work together as a team. The unit is supervised by the deputy director designated for this purpose. The clerk's primary responsibility is to orientate offenders receiving a disposition of court supervision or conditional discharge with their requirements and expectations.
The clerk also tracks the offenders throughout the domestic violence assessment and treatment process. The domestic violence probation officers monitor and supervise those offenders who have been ordered to complete a domestic violence assessment and/or counseling.
