Drug Unit

Dedicated to Curbing Drug Activity for a Safer McLean County

The Felony Drug and Gang Unit has two full-time assistant state's attorneys assigned to handle felony drug and other gang related offenses. The Drug Unit prosecutes over 300 felony drug cases per year and assists law enforcement in the investigation and prosecution of drug dealers and gang offenders.

Referrals to Drug Court

The Drug Unit will also be involved in evaluating candidates and making referrals to the McLean County Drug Court, once it is in place, to give chronic drug users a chance to get out of the system and become productive members of the community.

Targeting Serious Offenders with Longer Penalties

The Drug Unit also works with law enforcement and the Central District United State's Attorney's Office in targeting serious offenders for federal prosecution to secure longer penalties for dangerous drug and gang criminals to further protect the community.
